Finding Time to Read - it’s REALLY hard

Humans...being human is really hard. What is even harder is being a mom, teacher, active reader and really just human.

Finding time to read can be really hard. It takes time away from family, TV and social media. I have never been one to want to sacrafice the time I have when I get home. When I first started teaching I often spent time at home as well as has weekends lesson planning or creating tests. I finally got to the point where that wasn’t okay anymore and I was a very unhappy person. So started doing something for me. First I spent the time watching all the TV shows I had recorded. Then I began to get bored with TV. Now I read. So how do I make myself read?? First I’ve set a challenge for myself (reading 20 books from a list before May). Second I set a daily numbers of pages to read (currently 50 pages). Finally I go to bed 30 minutes earlier than my normal time.

Reading is my stress relief. Leaving my reality is what I need after a long day - so how do you help yourself begin to read daily? Try something similiar to what I do.

1.) Set a challenge or create a challenge with a friend

2.) Set a daily time limit or page limit

3.) Set yourself up for success

4.) Remember our are doing it for you

5.) If you miss a day it’s ok
